Parents and other family members are more than welcome to come and share their knowledge in the centre. We ask that you make a time to tell the room leader and director what information you wish to share.
Children’s learning is recorded through a variety of methods, such as our daily write ups, photos and achievement chart lists. These are kept in each child’s individual portfolio, which parents can view at any time.
Our Preschool Program provides many play-based opportunities to help prepare our 4-5 year old group for school. For example, we have our social skills program, where children are encouraged to use puppets to role play various situations to help them deal with a range of social situations. We include numeracy games which focus on problem solving skills, visual observations and working in small groups or independently. We also encourage children to bring their favourite picture books to share with us to develop their literacy skills; we talk about the author, illustrator and the theme of the story.
Play is the fantastic way children learn. Children are usually having fun interacting with their peers and educators and generally unaware that they are learning or developing new skills or interests.
